Rambert: In the Making

Stacey MacNaught |

British dance company Rambert is soon to present In the Making: a series of sketches, experiments, drafts and short works from dance artists at Rambert, curated by independent choreographer and producer Amy Bell. These short works and works-in-progress by up and coming dance makers will give insight into different stages of their creative processes. Performances will take place in different spaces throughout Rambert’s South Bank home, from 13-14 December. Building on the success of Rambert’s choreographic performance platforms, In the Making will offer audiences a curated experience, where they will travel through the building to see the dance works. Divided into two programmes which will be performed twice each day, In the Making will see presentations from dance artists from within the company and the independent dance sector too. In the Making is part of Rambert’s long-running choreographic development programme which aims to develop a generation of diverse artists who are ambitious, and have the confidence to collaborate with artists from a variety of different disciplines. The programme provides dance artists with a performance platform, dramaturgy, mentoring and the opportunity to create work for the company’s world-class dancers. This year Rambert invited Joss Arnott (Director of Joss Arnott Dance) to create a work on the company’s dancers, which premiered as part of The Future at The Lowry. The programmes will also feature choreography from Rambert’s Leverhulme Choreography Fellow Julie Cunningham, and Rambert dancers Luke Ahmet, Miguel Altunaga, Carolyn Bolton, Simone Damberg Würtz, Daniel Davidson, Edit Domoszlai, Pierre Tappon and Stephen Quildan. Amy Bell is acting as independent choreographer and producer, curating Rambert's In the Making. The two diverse programmes consequently invite audiences to enjoy the range, virtuosity and vibrancy of the company's homegrown and in-house choreographic talent as they develop and experiment.
