Proud Dance Moment Winner Announced!

Stacey MacNaught |

When we asked dance mums & dads to send us a photo of their child’s proud dancing moment and a description as to why it made them so proud for a chance to win £250 to spend at Dancewear Central, we didn't really anticipate just quite how spectacular the entries would be! In fact, we received hundreds of entries and were totally overwhelmed by the response. It has been such an emotional roller-coaster reading all your amazing proud dance moments but we truely have enjoyed reading each and every one of them. We would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who shared their special moments with us – we felt very honoured to read about so many incredible achievements, outstanding gestures and difficult obstacles that have been overcome by your children to pursue their dreams of dance and make you, the parents, so proud. We are very pleased to announce the winner of our Proud Dance Moment Competition - 10 year old Jasmine Allsop, from Nottingham, who has a very strong love for dance. Mum Kelly, told us she was so very proud of her for numerous reasons including her hard work and determination. Dancing ballet, tap and modern since the age of 5 at Dance Mania Dance School in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Jasmine, thrives on performing to entertain people through dance and acting and particularly enjoys telling stories through dance. What made Jasmine’s story stand out for us at Dancewear Central was her graceful and kind gesture Mum Kelly described at a recent dance Festival in Chesterfield. Jasmine had danced an incredible lyrical routine to the Toy Story song 'when somebody loves you'. Not a dry eye in the theatre, Jasmine achieved second place – certain to be a proud moment for dance mums everywhere.
However, Kelly says her proudest moment was actually being fortunate enough to witness Jasmine approach every other dancer on her own accord; she congratulated each and every one of them (11 others) and gave them a hug. Jasmine was the only dancer to do this. This is excellent sportsmanship, fantastic personality and a way to make fabulous new friends, and that's her mums’ number one reason for being so proud of her daughter.
Kelly tells us how Jasmines developed such a love of dance and is fortunate in meeting so many friends along the way so far who she intends to keep as life friends. She loves attending Dance Mania where her very talented dance teachers, Alison Haynes and Stella Pares have helped her to progress and become the dancer she is today. Her inspiration is her big sister, Layla Allsop who also has a love of dance. Proud Mum Kelly says that when Jasmine discovered she'd won this amazing prize with massive thanks to dancewear central, Jasmine said,
"I really would like to treat Layla to something new for dance from the web site too" Another random act of Jasmines kindness mum can treasure and be so incredibly proud of.
Alison Haynes, principal of Dance Mania, was just as excited as Jasmine to hear she had won. Miss Haynes, told us that ‘team work’ was the foundation of everything DanceMania does. Jasmine and her fellow dancers work as a team within a class of mixed abilities – Alison takes great pride that all her pupils work well together and are very supportive of each other. Every year Dance Mania put on a show to raise money for charity and last year Jasmine had a solo spot in the show.
'Dance- festivals can be very competitive but we always tell the children it’s about taking part and making new friends’ said Miss Haynes.
We couldn't agree more and are pleased we have been able to provide an opportunity for Jasmine to be given recognition, she is an inspiration to many. Congratulations Jasmine on winning this amazing prize! We hope your passion for dance continues and you enjoy spending your prize money – you deserve it!
