Preventing injury

For many dance students aspiring to a professional dance career, this will be their first term at performing arts college in preparing them for their future career. Dance training is tough on the body - and mind - and requires strength both physically and mentally. Days are long and classes are intense, so it is easy to pick up injuries and problems along the way.
In order to prevent this dance students must treat their bodies well by feeding them sufficiently and caring for them. This will enable each dancer to ensure they make the most of their training, and survive the course itself let alone a professional dance career. Aside from nutrition, therapy can also be an efficient way of looking after the body so it can perform to the best of its ability.
Sports therapy in particular can be useful in preventing injuries, especially common ones such as tears, stresses, strains and general pain to the feet, back and knees. To combat this, regular care and treatment for the body will prolong your dancing life and aims to ensure your dancing career is a long one. Sports therapy helps to prevent injuries as well as treat them, reducing risk of injury. This can be done through a variety of different treatments, with massage being the most popular.
Other treatments are also successful in repairing muscles after long days of training, such as cryotherapy (cold temperature treatment) and thermotherapy (hot temperature treatment) to increase muscle endurance. This is particularly important after days of intense training at performing arts college to both treat and prevent injury. Alternating temperatures will speed up injury recovery and relieve the effects of stress related issues.
