Platinum National Dance Competition

Stacey MacNaught |

The Platinum National Dance Competition is hitting the United States in early February, and travelling across a massive 20 states to recruit talented young dancers through regional competitions throughout the country. The National competitions will take place in June in Panama City, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-jiRTPEgpQ With input from students, parents and studio owners alike, the organisers aim to bring a new kind of competition to the young dancers of America, inviting them to pit their talents against like-minded dancers and gain competitive experience. They maintain that each dancer is center-stage, with routines showcased in a production so each dancer shines. The Platinum National Dance Competition aims to give dance students and parents an experience to enjoy and return to. The hard work which takes up most if not every day of a dancers' life is hugely acknowledged by the Platinum National Dance Competition, so they work towards giving those dancers the recognition they deserve. It seems every dancer has something to offer at the competitions, and every dancer walks away with something at the end of the day. The professional judges involved have attainable expectations for each age group and are familiar with the skill-levels of competitive dance conferences; the regional awards therefore give appreciation to dancers for excellence in areas that sometimes go overlooked. The Platinum National Dance Competition however is still a competition, yet the ethos of the event seems somewhat fairer. The event has a strong commitment to making sure dance studios get every minute worth of the competitions by providing artistic outlets for all involved. As a result the competition showcases clogging to jazz, ballet to African, hip hop to folk, modern to traditional; all dancers are invited to be involved and demonstrate their talent in an all-inclusive showcase.
