A total of 36 West End shows will take part in this year’s Kids Week, the annual kids-go-free ticket offer which runs throughout August. 2015 saw a record-breaking year for Kids Week, and 2016 sees it reach its 19th year. Kids Week has become one of London theatre’s most anticipated annual events and has worked to introduce thousands of young people to the magic of theatre.
For every ticket an adult buys for a show participating in Kids Week, one children’s ticket will be received free for those aged 16 or younger, as well as the chance to purchase a further two children’s tickets half price. Shows are grouped into suggested age suitability, from the very young to teenagers. Shows such as The Gruffalo and The Tiger Who Came To Tea begin the list, heading to other shows such as Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Disney's The Lion King, Horrible Histories – The Best Of Barmy Britain, Mamma Mia!, Matilda The Musical, The Secret Garden, Stomp, The Railway Children and That's Entertainment.
Children aged seven plus can enjoy musicals such as Bugsy Malone, Guys And Dolls, Les Misérables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Show Boat, Thriller Live and Wicked, as well as The Mousetrap, The Play That Goes Wrong and Vamos Cuba!. Shows with parental guidance are 1984, American Idiot, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, The Go-Between, In The Heights, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, and The Woman In Black.
Alongside tickets, Kids Week also gives children the chance to experience theatre from the other side of the curtain, with activities such as free workshops, events, Q&As and backstage tours. Tickets can also mean having tea with The Gruffalo or even learning show choreography. Ticket holders can also take advantage of a number of Kids Go Free deals on dining, tours and workshops.
